Newhailes House & Garden
About This Venue
Newhailes House is a Palladian style country house which stands in 80 acres of parkland on the edge of Musselburgh, just outside Portobello.
It is a Category A listed building which is now occupied and maintained by the National Trust for Scotland. The house is regularly open to the public for guided tours, and functions as a venue for weddings, corporate events and private parties.
The grounds are free to visit, and incorporate the notable Shell Grotto, Tea House, and Ladies’ Walk, as well as a rare surviving example of a mid-18th century Rococo landscape garden laid out in the “natural” style.
A stable block has been converted to retail and catering provision, and the Weehailes play area provides activities for young children.
