Located between Duddingston and Portobello, Figgate Park opened in 1936 and is named after the Figgate Burn that runs through it.
The park extends about one kilometer from east to west and contains woodland, a pond, the burn, hedges and meadow areas.
The pond, formerly a claypit for local brickworks, now hosts various waterfowl including ducks, geese and swans, while kingfishers, foxes and occasionally otters can also be spotted.
Visitors can use paved paths on both sides of the burn, cross bridges, and walk on a wooden boardwalk that extends into the pond.
Facilities include a children’s play area, picnic tables, and space for walking, jogging or cycling.
