SUMMARY:The Dead Curious Cafe
DESCRIPTION:The Dead Curious Cafe at Tribe Porty\n\nOpen conversations arou
nd death and dying are often confined to the realms of bad news\, frequent
ly in a medical environment\, when the conversation becomes unavoidable.\n
\nThere is merit in normalising the subject of death to open up a wider pe
rspective on the important aspects of living our best life. Many people av
oid thinking about death\, which can create fear and discomfort. Open disc
ussions help normalise death\, making it less of a taboo and allowing peop
le to approach it with more acceptance and peace.\n\nJoin us for a series
of interactive talks at the Dead Curious Cafe where we will explore our at
titudes towards\, and our relationship with death.\n\nThis is a safe and n
urturing environment\, where participation is encouraged\, and mutual resp
ect is a given.\n\nYour facilitator is Loretta Dunn\, a Life Celebrant and
retired nurse\, with many years of experience working with bereaved famil
ies and people at the end of life.\n\nThis is pay-what-you-can event\, sug
gested donation is £5.\n\nAbout Loretta\n\nLoretta Dunn is a life celebra
nt and death doula\, with a special interest in living well and dying well
. Her journey so far has included a long career in nursing and midwifery\,
she is a member of The Institute for the Study of Birth\, Breath and Deat
h\, and an EASE Facilitator (end of life aid skills for everyone) with the
Scottish Partnership for Palliative Care. She is passionate about bringin
g death out of the shadows as a means of helping us to live our best life
in the present moment.\n\nCompassion and love are at the heart of her work
.\n\nThe evening will be safe and relaxed environment for sharing and expl
oring a deeper understanding of spiritual wellbeing for living well to die
well.\nLove has triumphed from the enfoldment of my inner circle—my clo
sest friends and family. Engaging in open conversations about life and dea
th has woven tighter bonds among us. Death\, a shared human experience oft
en wrapped in silence\, has become a pivotal topic of our discussions. Thr
ough this\, I’ve gained invaluable insights about the inevitable but mor
e so about how to live. –Dani Trudeau on conversations about death
