SUMMARY:The Dead Curious Cafe at Tribe Porty
DESCRIPTION:A series of interactive talks at the Dead Curious Cafe where we
&#8217\;ll explore our attitudes towards\, and our relationship with death
.\nOpen conversations around death and dying are often confined to the rea
lms of bad news\, frequently in a medical environment\, when the conversat
ion becomes unavoidable.\nThere is merit in normalising the subject of dea
th to open up a wider perspective on the important aspects of living our b
est life. Many people avoid thinking about death\, which can create fear a
nd discomfort. Open discussions help normalise death\, making it less of a
taboo and allowing people to approach it with more acceptance and peace.\
nJoin us for a series of interactive talks at the Dead Curious Cafe where
we will explore our attitudes towards\, and our relationship with death.\n
This is a safe and nurturing environment\, where participation is encourag
 ed\, and mutual respect is a given.\nYour facilitator is Loretta Dunn\, a
Life Celebrant and retired nurse\, with many years of experience working w
ith bereaved families and people at the end of life.\nThis is pay-what-you
-can event\, suggested donation is £5.\nAbout Loretta.\nLoretta Dunn is a
life celebrant and death doula\, with a special interest in living well a
nd dying well. Her journey so far has included a long career in nursing an
d midwifery\, she is a member of The Institute for the Study of Birth\, Br
eath and Death\, and an EASE Facilitator (end of life aid skills for every
one) with the Scottish Partnership for Palliative Care. She is passionate
about bringing death out of the shadows as a means of helping us to live o
ur best life in the present moment.\nCompassion and love are at the heart
of her work.\nThe evening will be safe and relaxed environment for sharing
and exploring a deeper understanding of spiritual wellbeing for living we
ll to die well.\n“Love has triumphed from the enfoldment of my inner cir
cle—my closest friends and family. Engaging in open conversations about
life and death has woven tighter bonds among us. Death\, a shared human ex
perience often wrapped in silence\, has become a pivotal topic of our disc
ussions. Through this\, I’ve gained invaluable insights about the inevit
able but more so about how to live.” -Dani Trudeau on conversations abou
 t death
