Start the day with a delicious hot drink courtesy of The L ittle Green Van.\n\n\n\nOver the course of the day you will learn how to g et better quality photographs and move away from the automatic settings.\n \n\n\nWe will cover:\n\n\n\n\nExposure\n\n\n\nShutter Speed\n\n\n\nApertur e\n\n\n\nISO\n\n\n\nFocal Length\n\n\n\nComposition\n\n\n\nContext\n\n\n\n \nand much more.\n\n\n\nOur base for the day with be picturesque Portobell o Promenade (subject to change depending on distancing rules)\, beach and surrounding area.\n\n\n\nAll students will be provided with a workshop sch edule and some introductory learning resources.\n\n\n\nAbout the tutor\n\n \n\nAlicia Bruce has 20 years of photographic experience and over 10 years teaching experience and a teaching qualification. She is currently Teachi ng Fellow in Fine Art and Photography at Edinburgh College of Art the Univ ersity of Edinburgh. She also taught popular photography weekends at Stree t Level Photoworks\, Glasgow for over a decade.\n\n\n\nAlicia has exhibite d and published her photography internationally winning several awards\, i ncluding the Royal Scottish Academy Morton Award. Her work is held in seve ral public and private collections\, including National Galleries of Scotl and and Museum of Contemporary Photography\, Chicago. Recent commissions i nclude Zero Tolerance’s ‘Violence Unseen’\, ‘209 Women’ at the U K Parliament\, ‘Our World Heritage’ for Edinburgh World Heritage. It is 20 minutes by bus from the city centre.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWho is the course suitable for?\n\n\n\nThis course is suitable for absolute begin ners\, enthusiasts and experienced practitioners moving from analogue to d igital.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat to bring?\n\n\n\nParticipants should bring a D SLR camera or another camera including mirrorless and compact with manual capabilities with batteries charged and a cleared memory card\, a notebook and pen.\n\n\n\nA tripod is optional.\n\n\n\nLunch and/or snacks for your self.\n\n\n\nA 45 minute lunch break (1pm - 145pm) is allocated for partic ipants to enjoy their own lunch purchased from one of the multiple options available locally.\n\n\n\nDress for the changeable weather in Edinburgh. Wind and waterproof items are recommended.
