DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\n\nA collaboration with Art Walk Weekends.\n\n\n\nSpend 
 the day making meaningful photographic portraits of Art Walk Weekends arti
 sts with technical and creative support of professional photographer and e
 xperienced educator Alicia Bruce.\n\n\n\nOver the course of the day you wi
 ll learn how to get better quality photographic portraits\, appreciate the
  quality of available light and make meaningful portraits of artists.\n\n\
 n\nWe'll even start the day with a delicious FREE hot drink courtesy of Th
 e Little Green Van.\n\n\n\nA unique chance to meet and photograph some of 
 the artists participating in Art Walk Weekends programme.\n\n\n\nBeginners
 \, amateurs\, professionals and anyone curious about making better picture
 s is welcome.\n\n\n\nSee behind the scenes on last years workshop here\n\n
 \n\nWe will cover:\n\n\n\n\nComposition\n\n\n\nLighting\n\n\n\nSymbolism\n
 \n\n\nPositioning\n\n\n\nTechnical considerations\n\n\n\nEngaging and guid
 ing the sitter\n\n\n\n\nOur base for the day with be picturesque Portobell
 o Promenade \, beach and surrounding area.\n\n\n\nAbout the tutor\n\n\n\nA
 licia Bruce has 20 years of photographic experience and over 10 years teac
 hing experience and a teaching qualification. She is currently Teaching Fe
 llow in Photography at the University of Edinburgh and Photography Tutor a
 t Edinburgh College of Art (BA (Hons). She also taught popular photography
  weekends at Street Level Photoworks\, Glasgow for 10 years.\n\n\n\nAlicia
  has exhibited and published her photography internationally winning sever
 al awards\, including the Royal Scottish Academy Morton Award. Her work is
  held in several public and private collections\, including National Galle
 ries of Scotland and Museum of Contemporary Photography\, Chicago. Recent 
 commissions include Zero Tolerance’s ‘Violence Unseen’\, ‘209 Wome
 n’ at the UK Parliament\, ‘Our World Heritage’ for Edinburgh World H

 About Portobello\n\n\n\nPortobello is Edinburgh's seaside suburb with a th
 riving\, dynamic community\, beach and promenade and ever-changing sea and
  skyscape. It is 20 minutes by bus from the city centre.\n\n\n\nWho is the
  course suitable for?\n\n\n\nThis course is suitable for absolute beginner
 s\, enthusiasts and experienced practitioners looking to improve their por
 traiture skills. If you are an absolute beginner you can also sign up for 
 The Camera workshop to gain a deeper understanding of your camera or go st
 raight for The Photographic Portrait.\n\n\n\n--\n\n\n\nWhat to bring?\n\n\
 n\nParticipants should bring a DSLR camera with batteries charged and a cl
 eared memory card\, a notebook and pen.\n\n\n\nA tripod is optional.\n\n\n
 \nLunch and/or snacks for yourself. A 45 minute lunch break is allocated f
 or participants to enjoy their own lunch purchased from one of the multipl
 e options available locally.\n\n\n\nDress for the changeable weather in Ed
 inburgh. Wind and waterproof items are recommended. The tutor will likely 
 be in waterproofs\, wellies and welly socks.\n\n\n\nAll students will be p
 rovided with a workshop schedule and some introductory learning resources.

 lo Photography School activity does so at their own risk. The host assumes
  no responsibility for anyone attending this event. The host will not be h

 cumstances you will be offered a free transfer to the next course. All cou
 rse transfer requests incur a £15 transfer fee up to 14 days before the w
 orkshop\, £35 transfer fee up until 48 hours before\, no refunds therafte
 r. P articipants must transfer themselves via their eventbrite booking. Th
 e host cannot do this on your behalf. By booking you are agreeing to these
